With no new release this Friday, Jigra has retained quite a few screens and shows for itself, especially at key multiplexes in major cities. In any case such genre of films find Saturday audiences for themselves and though last weekend it was less than 50% despite Dusshehra holiday, this weekend the scenario is different. The growth is more than 50% and that’s also because the film is playing at lower numbers. As a result of that, even though the absolute figure is still low, from growth perspective it’s fine.
On Friday, the film had collected Rs. 1 crore* and now on Saturday it has grown to Rs. 1.75 crore*. Now, had this been a controlled budget starless film then the trajectory would have been considered as decent enough, especially because there are two open weeks ahead of the film. However, with Alia Bhatt in there and production values being quite good as well, a lot more was expected and at the bare minimum at least Rs. 50-60 crores would have been a fair enough bet.
The film will do lesser though and while Rs. 30 crores lifetime will now be crossed, that would be about it. Currently, the film stands at Rs. 25 crores* and by the close of second week it would have come close to the Rs. 30 crores mark. Then there would be one more week for the film to collect as much moolah as it can and then come close to Rs. 35 crores before making way for the Diwali biggies.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
