It was a low Monday for both Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Jigra as the numbers saw a substantial drop when compared to Friday. This was always on the cards as well since Saturday has anyways not seen much growth despite Dussehra holiday and then on Sunday, both films dropped which was not a good sign at all. Yes, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video was doing better but then that too was mainly relatively speaking since a weekend of Rs. 19.17 crores wasn’t really great. On the other hand, Jigra was as it is low with Rs. 16.64 crores coming in the opening weekend, which made Monday hold all the more important.
As was the case though, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video came down from Friday collections of Rs. 5.71 crores to Rs. 2.25 crores* on Monday, which is a drop of around 60%. Even a 50% drop would have been considerable since the numbers weren’t huge to begin with and now with a bigger drop coming in, one waits to see how rest of the weekdays stabilise. Ditto for Jigra which saw a big drop from Friday (Rs. 4.55 crores) to Monday (Rs. 1.75 crore*), when the need of the hour was to stay over Rs. 3 crores mark (which didn’t look possible anyways after the weekend trend).
It would turn out to be an ordinary first weekend for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and a low one for Jigra with the only consolation being that there are three open weeks till Diwali releases Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again arrive, due to which some sort of collections will come in the second and third week as well.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
