It was yet another good weekend for Tumbbad as it continued the momentum well into Sunday. On Friday, the film had anyways got a very good push due to National Cinema Day but what helped its cause was the steady run on Saturday which set the stage for momentum to be regained on Sunday. This is what happened as well with the collections going past the Rs. 2.50 crores mark all over again, what with Rs. 2.59 crores coming in.
Last Sunday, the film had collected 3.04 crores and it’s wonderful to see collections being close to that on the second Sunday. It shows that the film has now set itself well with audience word of mouth going in its favour and it won’t be anytime soon that it would go off the theatres. In fact, even though there will be a few south subbed films or other smaller Hindi films that will release in the interim period, Tumbbad will keep enjoying its run right till Diwali. So far, the film has collected Rs. 21.57 crores and now one can’t really put a number against the expected lifetime.
As for new release Yudhra, it couldn’t really show much momentum on Sunday. Ideally the collections needed to be closer to the Friday mark and even at the very minimum they needed to be over and above the Rs. 3 crores mark. Since that hasn’t quite happened, it all boils down to Monday. The weekend total of the film stands at Rs. 8 crores*.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
