Box Office: Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has hardly any growth on Saturday, Ulajh is better

It was yet another dull day for Bollywood as even combined collections of two new releases Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh couldn’t cross Rs. 5 crores mark. It’s understandable (though not entirely) when films don’t open on Friday but then when growth doesn’t come on Saturday either then you know where they are headed for. It’s so disheartening to see empty houses for Bollywood films week after week and though there is some sort of intermittent relief that comes when something like Bad Newz collects well at least over the opening weekend, it all has come back to square one just a couple of weeks down the line.

This can well be seen from the fact that despite Ajay Devgn and Tabu being in lead, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has turned out to be an absolute non-starter with first the opening day bringing in mere Rs. 1.70 crores and then Saturday too being largely flat at mere Rs. 1.90 crores. Both in terms of percentage growth as well as absolute numbers, this is so low here. In case of Ulajh it’s a little better though again, this too is strictly relatively speaking. The film had opened at Rs. 1 crore and while Saturday has moved ahead to Rs. 1.70 crores, hence reflecting a growth of over 60%, that too is simply not enough. Ideally, the collections should have doubled up and now the onus is on Sunday to see any sort of turnaround so that the Janhvi Kapoor starrer can hope for weekdays to help its cause.

All in all, while Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha currently stands at Rs. 3.60 crores, Ulajh has managed to bring in Rs. 2.70 crores. Even the combined collections of the two films after being in theatres for two days haven’t reached Rs. 10 crores which pretty much tells the tale.

A sad scenario indeed.
